Types of Orthodontic Braces

Orthodontic braces are orthodontic devices used to correct teeth and treat various oral issues. Braces consist of small components bonded onto the teeth, which are then connected by wires to facilitate the movement of teeth.

Here are some common types of orthodontic braces:

Metal Braces: Metal braces are the traditional and most commonly used orthodontic braces. They are made of stainless steel or titanium and are bonded to the front surface of the teeth. Metal braces are durable and effective in correcting more complex teeth misalignments.

Ceramic Braces: Ceramic braces are similar to metal braces but are made of clear or tooth-colored ceramic material. Therefore, they are considered more aesthetic and reduce the visibility of the teeth. However, they may be more fragile compared to metal braces.

Lingual Braces: Lingual braces are brackets placed on the back surface of the teeth, making them invisible from the outside. However, their use is more complex and may sometimes affect speech and eating comfort.

Invisalign and Similar Clear Aligners: Clear aligners like Invisalign are removable plastic trays used as an alternative to traditional braces. Each tray gently moves the teeth, and the trays are replaced regularly throughout the treatment process. Clear aligners offer aesthetic and comfort advantages.
